Dr Athanasios (Thanos) Diamantopoulos is a well accomplished Consultant Interventional Radiologist with a wealth of experience in all aspects of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. Dr. Athanasios Diamantopoulos is a highly skilled and experienced radiologist with a strong passion for helping patients achieve optimal health outcomes through the use of advanced imaging techniques. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Diamantopoulos has developed a reputation for his expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions and diseases, and for his commitment to providing compassionate care to his patients.

He is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Patras in Greece, where he graduated from the medical school in 2004, and holds a PhD in experimental prevention of contrast induced nephropathy.

With an impressive track record in both research and clinical practice, Dr Diamantopoulos has established himself as a world key opinion leader in his field. He completed a fellowship at Guy's and St Thomas NHS foundation Trust in 2012, one of the UK's leading teaching hospitals, prior to being appointed as a consultant Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist at the same hospital. He is also board certified by the European Board of Interventional Radiologists (EBIR).

Dr Diamantopoulos Is a Reader (Hon) in Interventional radiology School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, Kings College London and the R&D lead for Clinical imaging and medical physics at Guy's and St Thomas. He has authored or co-authored many peer-reviewed original scientific papers in international schientific journals and book chapters, and has given numerous scientific presentations at national and international conferences and is member of the editorial board of several schientific journals. He has been recognized for his contributions to interventional radiology and cardiovascular imaging with a Fellowship of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (FCIRSE). Since 2019, he has served as an elected member of the research committee of CIRSE and he is currently an elected member of the CIRSE membership committee.

Throughout his career, Dr. Diamantopoulos has held numerous leadership positions. As the ex-clinical lead for Interventional Radiology at Guy's and St Thomas Interventional Radiology Department, Dr Diamantopoulos has vast experience in performing cutting-edge minimal invasive image guided procedures. He specializes in percutaneous key hole, image guided vascular, non-vascular, and interventional oncology procedures for both adults and children. He is committed to incorporating the latest technological advances into his treatment methods, such as drug eluting technologies, carbon dioxide angiography, the latest atherectomy techniques, and all the newest ablation technologies.
